I believe in connections. I believe in missed flights, trains caught at the very last moment, and the ability for a second to totally change your fate. I believe in love, in destiny, in fate. I believe in all of the things that little girls are supposed to believe in, even though I pride myself on being far more realistic and practical than most girls my age. I believe that sitting across from someone on a completely random night can totally change your life, even if it is hard to admit to yourself, or to others. And I believe that you can meet someone and a year later have no idea what your life was like before them. People come into our lives to make a mark somehow. Every interaction we have with another human being is another opportunity to leave a good mark on someone else. I believe that. I fundamentally believe that. And sometimes those marks are only meant to happen for mere moments, and sometimes they are meant to happen for a lifetime.
But it’s hard. Life is a totally beautiful, complicated mess, full of caught trains and missed flights. We meet people that we know are supposed to have a huge impact on our lives, and yet we figure out how they are supposed to fit in to our lives. You know we sit and we wonder, and while we know that things will work out for the best, it’s hard to wait for them to happen. But that’s what has to happen. Waiting is the only thing that can be done. Life has a funny way of working itself out, as long as you nudge it in the right direction.
